Urban Reflection

Carleton University
Fall 2012

A proposal for the redevelopment of Dalhousie St. in Ottawa, designed as part of a housing studio course.

This project explores the concept of an “urban home” by focusing on the relationship between public and private spaces. The design is based on the idea that there should be a balance between the energy of the city and the more personal, quiet spaces where we live.

The building is designed to both engage the commercial street and to wrap around an inner courtyard. Ideally, each resident gets a sense that they have a balance between an inner and outer world, their own space inside the city.
